Why Teaching Hen?
Why am I the Teaching Hen? I was given this name years ago by a group of former students. The students were feeling overwhelmed and lost at school. They found a safe space in my classroom. They began to call themselves my flock. I provided academic and social support for them. As they progressed through their classes, they introduced their friends to me and "Teaching Hen" became more than a name for me. I take pride in creating safe, engaging learning spaces for my students where they can learn at their own pace and explore their own interests.
Why Teaching Hen Tutoring?
I know how rigorous the classroom can be. I am a former classroom teacher. I know that many students benefit from one-on-one personalized learning support outside of the classroom. Many students require practice and repetition before mastery, but that can be hard to find in a traditional classroom. I can offer the support they need and can move at their pace.
Why Teaching Hen Homeschool Support?
I am passionate about homeschooling and the benefits it can bring to a family as well as the student. I also know how overwhelming homeschooling can be with children at different levels, different interests, different skills, and different learning styles. I love creating learning plans that are specifically designed to help students follow their interests and allow them to learn in their own learning style. I also know that having a learning pod can help students remain engaged and productive in a variety of subjects.
